Nic & Jen - Founders of CitiPods
This all started because I couldn’t ignore what I was seeing anymore.
Every week, yet another delivery driver accident on our streets. It’s dangerous work, and I kept thinking, “Surely someone is solving this? Surely someone is helping?” But nothing seemed to be changing.
And once my eyes were tuned in, I started noticing something else too:
these riders have no place to rest, reset, use the toilet (a basic human right), eat lunch, or get out of the rain. Most of us call that… an office.
Meanwhile, delivery numbers are exploding as e-commerce grows, but the physical infrastructure supporting the people doing the work is almost nonexistent. Sidewalks are now packed with drivers because they literally have nowhere else to go.
Cue the “there must be a better way” moment.
Enter CitiPods. I casually pitched the idea to a few friends, and the excitement was instant. Nic (who happens to be an architect) was even more excited. My first idea was to repurpose containers… thankfully Nic stepped in and suggested something much better: beautiful, modular wooden pods designed to bring some dignity and order to our streets.
So here we are.
Obsessed with this problem.
And building a solution that’s evolving every day.
